With a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, she has made significant contributions across various sectors in Afghanistan, becoming a respected and influential figure in the country’s socio-economic and political landscape. She was an active member from 2007 to 2012, Zakia supported women entrepreneurs, fostering a supportive environment for female business owners.
From 2008 to 2017, she was a pivotal member promoting women’s education and leadership, helping to create opportunities for women in higher education and beyond in Women’s Center at the American University of Afghanistan. In 2013, Zakia completed the Policy Development Training and Women in Politics and Governance programs, equipping her with the skills to influence policy and governance.
She launched Radio Nasim station in Daikundi Province in 2011, aiming to enhance community engagement and information dissemination through media.
As a decision-making board member in 2015 in Leading Entrepreneurs for Afghanistan’s Development Zakia played a crucial role in steering the organization’s efforts to support entrepreneurship and she is one of the founders and served on the Board of Directors from 2015 to 2017, and later as an Advisory Board member from 2017 to 2018, helping to advance the interests of women in commerce.
